Wat ga je doen?

Als junior engineer/modelleur BIM maak je binnen een ontwerpteam onder begeleiding van ervaren engineers de basis opzet van de installaties. Je bent medeverantwoordelijk voor de opzet van installatietechnische schema’s en vervaardig je allerhande berekeningen. Daarnaast draag je bij aan het vervaardigen van de meest voorkomende berekeningen gedurende het ontwerpproces. Nevenactiviteiten zijn mede ook het ge-update houden van alle standaard ontwerpdocumenten.

[TNO] INTERNSHIP | Research of video codec: improving video compression

What will you be doing?

You will start by developing reference implementations of video compression tools. For this, you will work closely with the TNO researchers who are experts in video coding and are actively participating in the definitions of standards developed by organizations such as MPEG, IETF and ISO. You are expected to evaluate your implementation, and suggest and test ways to improve it, which will give you the chance of actually contributing to an video coding standard.
The scope and the complexity of the work will be fitted to what we think is best, depending on if you aim for an internship (minimum 2 months) or a final project such as a Master Thesis (minimum 6 months). You will perform your research work at the TNO premises and in particular you can make use of TNO's media-lab, the place where we develop new video coding techniques.

Ben jij de starter die zich in een breed werkveld wil ontwikkelen tot ervaren specialist?

Wat ga je doen?

Zo zou je dag eruit kunnen zien!

Nog een half uur en dan moet de eerste trein vertrekken… Je hebt de test van het beveiligingssysteem samen met collega’s bijna afgerond je loopt nog tegen enkele storingen aan. Je bent betrokken geweest bij de hele engineeringsfase en toch is de praktijk weerbarstig. De tijd begint te dringen, iedereen is betrokken en ondanks de stress opereert het team maximaal. Geslaagd! De test is afgerond de systemen en het spoor zijn op tijd in dienst. Het team kijkt met trots naar de eerste trein die vlekkeloos en storingsvrij kan vertrekken. De kers op de taart na een lange voorbereiding van ontwerp tot realisatie in samenwerking met de klant, aannemers en nog vele andere partijen.
 
Wat je doet
Als junior specialist is jouw werk erop gericht om problemen op te lossen die ontstaan door gewijzigd gebruik van railinfrastructuur. In je dagelijkse werk word je uitgedaagd om duurzame en economisch voordelige oplossingen te ontwerpen die binnen de kaders van regelgeving en specifieke voorschriften van spoorbeveiliginginstallaties passen. Binnen het projectteam en de afdeling werk je daarbij aan diverse projecten en thema’s in de wereld van rail. Je bent verantwoordelijk voor de primaire werkzaamheden gericht op functionaliteit en veiligheid. Tijdens de uitvoering ben je op locatie aanwezig om te testen of jouw ontwerp juist wordt uitgevoerd. Je deelt de uitkomsten van jouw werk met collega’s en opdrachtgevers.
 
Als junior specialist krijg je te maken met diverse technieken en systemen die bijdragen aan een veilige spoorinfrastructuur. Van “proven technology” tot nieuwe beveiligingssystemen zoals ERTMS, alles om de trein veilig van A naar B te vervoeren. Jouw bijdrage is hierin cruciaal en je wordt gezien als “one of the few”. Binnen jouw werkveld krijg je ook te maken met de nieuwste inzichten in het uitvoeren van dergelijke projecten, bijvoorbeeld het gebruik van BIM (Bouwwerk Informatie Model) en SE (Systems Engineering). Jouw werkzaamheden zullen met name gericht zijn op het Nederlandse heavy- en lightrail spoorwegennet, maar projecten in het buitenland behoren zeker tot de mogelijkheden.

Wat vragen wij?

Het team treinbeveiliging is op zoek naar een starter die houdt van puzzelen en die accuraat en gefocust kan werken. Je leert terwijl je bezig bent, dus we zoeken iemand die enthousiast is om het vak te leren.

Jouw profiel:

  • afgeronde hbo/wo opleiding in een technische richting;
  • afgeronder minor railtechniek is een pre;
  • interesse in de spoorwereld;
  • affiniteit met ICT-tools en/of programmeren;
  • proactief, initiatief nemend en zelfstandig;
  • niet alleen technisch gericht, maar vooral ook vaardig met soft skills;

[TNO] Afstudeeropdracht: Berekening van elektromagnetische propagatie in gelaagde media

Om schepen tegen corrosie te beschermen wordt naast coating gebruik gemaakt van Kathodische Bescherming.

Hierdoor loopt elektrische stroom door het water en deze draagt bij aan elektrische en magnetische velden rondom het schip, de zogenaamde elektrische en magnetische signatuur.

Moderne zeemijnen gebruiken elektrische en magnetische sensoren om deze velden waar te nemen en zo een inschatting te doen van hun target. Voor marineschepen, die in mijnengevaarlijk gebied moeten kunnen opereren, is het daarom van belang om inzicht te hebben in de elektrische en magnetische bijdrage aan de signatuur ten gevolge van het gebruik van Kathodische Bescherming, en om deze bijdrage indien mogelijk te reduceren. Met eindige elementen berekeningen (Comsol Multiphysics) kan een inschatting worden gemaakt van de elektrische signatuur.
